Lake County Opiate Task Force Announces Name Change to Addiction Task Force to Reflect Broader Scope of Substance and Behavioral Addictions
Mentor, OH – The Lake County Opiate Task Force is proud to announce its official name change to the Lake County Addiction Task Force, marking a significant step in the group’s ongoing commitment to addressing a wide range of substance and behavioral addictions affecting the community.
Originally established in 2010 by the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board to combat the opioid epidemic, the task force has expanded its focus to include other emerging issues impacting Lake County residents. The decision to adopt the new name reflects the group’s dedication to addressing not only opioid misuse but also the increasing concerns surrounding sports gambling, vaping, marijuana, cocaine, amphetamines, and other forms of addiction.
“This name change is an important step in recognizing the evolving challenges our community faces,” said Kim Fraser, Executive Director of the ADAMHS Board and Addiction Task Force member. “Addiction takes many forms, and our mission is to provide education, resources, and support to help individuals and families struggling with a variety of substance use and behavioral health issues.”
The Addiction Task Force will continue its collaborations with schools, churches, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and other community partners to offer prevention, treatment, and recovery resources. A key initiative of the task force is secure medication drop-off bins located at all municipal police offices, educational trainings for first responders and community groups, and the Compass Line, one-on-one, user friendly, resource connecting individuals to treatment options at (440) 350-2000.
“Treatment works and people recover,” Fraser emphasized. “By reducing stigma and increasing access to services, we can help more individuals and families find the support they need.”
