News-Herald – Health and Wellness Issue January 27, 2024
During 2023 there were 39 lives lost to suicide in Lake County, an increase of 56% compared to 2022. Suicide prevention will be a focus in 2024 for the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) Board. It is essential to address mental health challenges and provide support to those in need. To start, you can go to the Lake County ADAMHS Board’s website (HelpThatWorks.us), or by calling the Compass Line (440-350-2000), or the 24/7 Crisis Hotline (440-350-8255 or text 4Hope to 741 741). The Compass Line is a non-emergency line that can help navigate the behavioral healthcare system by providing a live Behavioral Health Navigation Specialist. Through the Compass Line, the Specialist helps individuals sort through feelings and symptoms, explore and explain options, and get connected firmly and quickly with the right kind of resources. The Compass Line is available weekdays 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. or by email/text to CompassLine@LakeADAMHS.org.
